FIND THE PTA/PTO ORGANIZATION AT MY SCHOOL

The administration of MNPS recognizes the value and importance of parental involvement at the school and district level. There are many opportunities to help students, teachers and schools succeed. All parents are invited to become involved in their child's school and provide feedback at every level.

PTO

One of the most important areas of parental involvement is having a voice in policy and procedure through parent groups at school and District levels. The vehicle for parents to have proactive input, give feedback and evaluate schools is through the parent/teacher organization (PTO, PTA, PTSA, etc) at each school. For more information about local parent organizations, Contact W. A. Bass PTO President Lori Mangrum at bassmiddleschoolpto@gmail.com.

Cluster Groups

PTA/PTO organizations select two representatives and two alternates to represent their school cluster at the Cluster Parent Group (CPG). The representatives communicate their school's concerns and ideas to their CPG and report information learned at the CPG meeting back to their school.

The Cluster Parent Group works on issues and concerns such as encouraging schools to work together to smooth students’ transition from elementary to middle to high school. Increased parental coordination among schools results in stronger schools and stronger clusters.

Parent Advisory Council

Parents Advisory Council (PAC) is comprised of three representatives from each of the 13 Cluster Parent Groups. The PAC meets monthly with the director of schools and other members of the district cabinet. Each Cluster Parent Group selects three representatives and three alternates to the PAC. The cluster representatives communicate their concerns at the PAC meetings and bring back what they learned to their respective clusters.
