Mrs. Bates has taught at Bass Middle School for four years now. She began as a resource teacher, but now helps all of the Bass students to become better readers as one of the Language! Teachers

Mrs. Bates transferred here to Tennessee with her husband and 2 children, 1 boy and 1 girl. Mrs. Bates and her family are avid soccer fans. from the “Show Me State” of Missouri. She has her degree in Special Education.

Language! is a phonics based reading course. It is designed to increase reading fluency and achievement so students can master the literacy skills needed to succeed in their grade level classes. Each lesson has six steps. These steps are Phonemic Awareness, Word Recognition, Vocabulary and Morphology, Listening and Reading Comprehension, and Speaking and Writing.
