Library Procedures

Books

A student may check out two books for a two week period. Books may be renewed. Students with overdue books may not check out additional items.

Periodicals

Periodicals may not leave the library due to the fragility of the magazines.

Overdue Notices

Overdue notices are published on a regular basis and sent to the students through their Homeroom classes. If a student has lost a book, the student will receive a statement giving a replacement cost of the book. All students are held responsible for materials checked out in their name. A student may not check out materials for another student.

Returning Materials

Students may return materials to the library at any time their teacher gives permission. Students must have a pass from that teacher.

Library Holdings

The library’s holdings consist of more than 7,500 items which include books, paperbacks, and VHS videos. Professional review sources and recommendations from faculty, parents, and students are used for collection development. The library’s holdings are structured to support academic standards as set forth by the Metropolitan Nashville Public School System. The interests and research needs of our students are also considered.

Media Center Computers

Students and staff at W.A. Bass Middle School have access to 6 PCs for word processing and research. Students much have an Internet agreement signed by their parent or guardian. Students must have the permission form on file at the school in order to use the Internet.
